Tree on house

So we are in the middle of an intense windstorm with wicked gusts. With one gust a tree came down on our house with me in it. It was pretty scary. It looks like no major damage was done, but it is against the chimney, the edge of the roof, and two windows. I worry with ongoing gusts that more damage will be done. Unfortunately my camera was malfunctioning when I took these photos around 4:15 and now it is dark.

These above and below photos are of where the large branch took off the main trunk.

So Tom came home and was checking out the damage when another tree came down and almost hit him. It turned out if was the other main trunk from the same spruce tree.

So now we have a tree service on the way over (they are just down the road). I am not sure what they can do in this intense wind, but we'll see.

Oh, Donna! Wow! We had a little (VERY little)snow this AM, but the news is full of the wind storms on the coast.

Thanks for the Wow! I am just sitting here waiting for the other shoe to drop. Another tree to fall down? The electricity to go out? It is just howling outside!

Yeeks! Whata mess. Glad you're both ok, though. That wind is howling over here too. I keep waiting for the lights (and my computer!) to go out-

Oh no! Yikes! We just missed all the excitement, it seems.

Oh NO! I hope that is the end of it and there was no further damage.

Thanks for all the comments. I did not hear any crashed last night but will need to go out once it is light and check. I hope the pasture fencing is intact too!

I'm glad no one was hurt...and hopefully no critters injured? Yikes, it must have been quite frightening!

No critters were hurt that I know of. Our beagle was under the tree howling when it happened so he's quite lucky. The tree service removed the tree (for $1100), and there is minimal damage to the house. Nothing that even looks like we really need to repair, minor cosmetic stuff. So we are lucky. Now we have rented a big chipper to chip this mess in our yard. A friend is supposed to come over today to see about topping the other trees. If we look at the positive side we have nearly unlimited chips and fire wood for merely $1300!
